How to properly cook rabbit meatballs for a child

Kids are our joy and future. All loving mothers try to cook tasty and healthy meals and make their children happy. Meatball soup for children is a culinary classic for every day, especially since it can be varied with additional different ingredients.

soup for baby

There are a huge number of different recipes for children of different ages - up to one year and older. The main difference is the type of meat that is used to make delicious meatballs. Let's take a closer look at the features.

Introduction principles

There are established provisions for the preparation of children's dishes, which a young mother must adhere to in order to safely feed the baby and preserve the beneficial properties of its components:

  • Meat dishes are introduced into the diet of children from 8 months of age, but in special cases, incl. if hemoglobin is low, the pediatrician may recommend meat puree as a second complementary food.
  • The amount of healthy food depends on age and does not exceed 70 grams by 12 months.

Fish meatballs are given to children no earlier than 10 months, also taking into account the allergenicity and fat content of each type. River fish is considered more allergenic than sea fish.

  • For children prone to allergies, egg whites are not added. Flour, semolina and other products with gluten are also not used.
  • Children's soup, like other dishes for children, must be freshly prepared. They cannot be stored or reheated.

From 10 months

Soup with pike perch and vegetables ⠀

Take:

  • 50 g pike perch
  • 1 potato
  • 1 small carrot or half a medium one
  • half a zucchini
  • half an onion
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 200 ml water
  • dill

Preparation:

  1. Mash the pike perch fillet well with your hands and check for bones. Boil or steam the fish (15 minutes).
  2. Grate the carrots on a fine grater, cut the potatoes into small cubes, and chop the onion. Throw vegetables into boiling water.
  3. After 10 minutes, add the chopped zucchini and cook until the vegetables are softened.
  4. Add the prepared fish, vegetable oil, chopped dill to the vegetable broth and boil for another 2 minutes.
  5. If the baby is not chewing yet, the soup can be turned into puree.

Lunch is the most nutritious and satisfying meal of the day. Options on the menu: vegetable soup, 2 tablespoons of side dish and a protein product (meat, fish, legumes). If it’s not customary for your family to eat borscht soups, then you don’t have to cook them, no big deal. Having a first course in children's diets is simply an opportunity:

  • feed the children vegetables: puree soup with homemade croutons and cheese for decoration - it’s beautiful on the plate and healthy;
  • give legumes (lentils, chickpeas, mung beans) in an easy-to-digest format;
  • supplement the diet with liquid that children do not get in water;
  • include vegetable oil in the children's menu, which is necessary for the health and normal functioning of the nervous system.

Choosing the ingredients.

Vegetables. Vegetable additives already familiar to the baby are used. Safe ingredients include broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. Such ingredients are rich in vegetable protein and contain dietary fiber necessary for normal intestinal function. Pumpkin, carrots, potatoes are introduced later. You can make a bright assorted vegetable dish for your baby with the addition of meatballs. Vegetable broths are considered safe, but may cause increased gas formation.

We carefully choose the type of meat. It is important to remember that rabbit and turkey, veal are the best option for kids. Chicken is more likely to cause allergic reactions. Pork can put excessive strain on a child’s gastrointestinal tract. Ground beef is classified as refractory, since its fatty acids are difficult for infants to digest.

Cereals and pasta. Choose from among already familiar species. Rice and semolina go well with chicken meatballs. Pasta and noodles go well with beef and pork products.

Be especially careful when choosing cereals for children with celiac disease.

Spices and salt. These products are added to children’s menus as they grow older, taking into account the child’s tendency to allergic reactions. It is recommended to use seasonings that correspond to family traditions for no earlier than 2 years.

Cooking Rules

Before preparing a baby dish, it is useful for a young mother to familiarize herself with some of the features of preparing dishes with meatballs for babies up to one year old:

  • It is better to make meatballs from a whole piece of meat, rather than from store-bought minced meat. The meat is pre-soaked. Such actions will reduce the concentration of extractives. Then the meat is thoroughly cleaned of films, cut into pieces and passed through a meat grinder several times.
  • How long to cook the product depends on the type of meat. Semi-finished chicken products, rabbit or turkey products - about 25 minutes. Beef meatballs, 30 minutes. Veal, 20 minutes. Pork, 25 minutes.
  • Meatballs can be cooked in a double boiler for second courses. Cooking time: 40 minutes. A tasty and tender option - meatballs with gravy and side dish will definitely please your child. You can also cook healthy children's soup in a slow cooker.

Meat and fish broths are given no earlier than 2 years. Frying is also not used in children's nutrition. It’s especially not worth frying the meatballs themselves.

  • Meatball soup for a child under 1 year old is prepared using second water. Meat products are placed in boiling water and boiled for about 5 minutes. Then the broth is drained and the pan is filled with a new portion of water, brought to a boil, the meatballs are reinserted and cooked until tender along with the other ingredients.
  • Meatballs for baby food can be frozen raw. To do this, place the balls on a cutting board and place them in the freezer for several hours. After freezing, distribute into single serving bags for easy storage and subsequent defrosting.

Children under one year old are given salt in the amount of 0.2 g per day.

  • Timely collection of foam on the surface of the liquid will make the dish transparent.
  • To prevent the minced meat from sticking to your hands during the process of forming balls, your palms are moistened with water.
  • If you make very large balls, you will get meatballs without rice. Such a product will take a long time to cook and risks falling apart during heat treatment. The optimal meatball size is a large walnut.

Soup for a one-year-old child

The child is one year old, which means he is actively exploring the world through play, moving more, and his physical development continues.

child eating soup

This is a fertile time to add variety to your baby's food by slightly changing its design. For example, the same soup with meatballs is already prepared with the addition of multi-colored pasta; carrots and potatoes can be cut into triangles, stars, hearts or other shapes. This is where the flight of imagination and creativity of the cook comes into play.

You can also choose chicken for meat balls. Of course, poultry is preferable for preparing dishes for a child, but the store-bought version is also good if you first clean the meat of all veins and films, rinse it well, pour boiling water over it or boil it a little.

The preparation algorithm can be used as described above. Only now let’s diversify the aesthetic qualities of the dish. The meatballs themselves can have not only the classic round shape, but also the shape of hearts and barrels. Quail and chicken eggs are added both for decoration and as a cooking ingredient.

Before serving, the soup can be ground in a blender, and meatballs, carrots, and boiled eggs can be beautifully placed on top.

Your young explorer will become interested in the contents of his plate. And if mom or dad spices up dinner with an interesting fairy tale or story, then everyone will get maximum pleasure and joy from eating.

How to cook rabbit meatballs like in kindergarten

  • Salt - to taste

Preparation:

Technological map - rabbit meatballs like in kindergarten.

Technology for preparing rabbit meatballs like in kindergarten.

Peel the wheat bread from the crust, crumble or slice it and soak in water or milk. Set aside for a while. Since there is not very much liquid, after some time the bread needs to be stirred so that the top pieces are also soaked.

Cut the rabbit pulp into pieces and pass through a meat grinder. Instead of rabbit, you can take poultry fillet, turkey, chicken legs or broiler chicken.

Combine with bread soaked in milk (the milk will be completely absorbed), add salt, mix well, mince a second time and beat out. I do this on the countertop. Don't skip this point, knocking out completely changes the mince!

Portion the finished cutlet mass: cut into balls (2-3 pieces per serving). Such balls can be frozen as semi-finished products.

Boil the meatballs by steaming or in water. You can do this in a slow cooker in the “Steam” mode.

Rabbit meatballs should be served as in kindergarten with boiled butter. You can decorate with herbs and fresh vegetables.

The most suitable side dishes for meatballs are mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes with carrots, and carrot puree.

From the age of 8 months, it is advisable for the baby to start introducing meat for lunch, in addition to the already introduced vegetables. For the first complementary foods, it is recommended to choose hypoallergenic rabbit or turkey meat, which are easily digestible and contain little fat. If you don't want to feed your baby canned meat, this recipe is for you.

Steamed meatballs with rice

You won’t find salt in recipes until you are one year old, since it is not recommended for feeding infants. The same goes for spices and seasonings. They are introduced into the diet of babies much later. Pediatricians recommend simple and healthy foods for infants. They are introduced little by little, taking into account the reaction of the child’s body to the new food component.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g turkey fillet;
  • bulb;
  • 2 tbsp. l. rice;

Cooking process

  • Prepare turkey meat. Only chilled (not frozen) fillets of proper quality, purchased from a trusted place, will do.
  • Pass the washed fillet through a meat grinder, blender or food processor.
  • Rinse the rice in cold water and leave in it for 15 minutes. Squeeze the cereal from the water and mix with the minced meat. Add chopped onion there. Mix the products well until smooth.
  • Form the minced meat into small balls.
  • Prepare a steamer with the required amount of water. Place meat balls on the grill in the appliance and turn on the appropriate mode.
  • Cook the meatballs for about 20 minutes.

Recipe for “Rabbit puree for babies”:

We thoroughly wash the rabbit meat, remove fat and films, and cut into pieces.

Add water and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.

After boiling for 10 minutes, drain the water and add new water. Cook for 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on whether the rabbit is young or not. The finished meat is easily pierced with a fork.

Remove the finished meat from the broth and let it cool slightly. Then finely chop with a knife or run through a meat grinder.

Next, pour the chopped meat with breast (!) milk/formula/boiled water/vegetable broth and grind with a blender to the consistency of a homogeneous puree. We also add 5 ml of cold-pressed olive oil. After a year, you can add cow's or goat's milk. It is not recommended to give meat broth to a baby under one year of age. If you are using breast milk, then after grinding, simply add vegetables to the puree and you can feed the baby right away. And if it is not breast milk, then bring the resulting puree to a boil, and then add vegetables and butter.

Meatballs for babies can be prepared with the addition of many dietary ingredients acceptable for use in children's diets. Instead of rice, hypoallergenic buckwheat is a good choice. It turns out delicious adding oatmeal to the minced meat. If you grind oatmeal, it can be added to gravy instead of wheat flour.

Turkey meat is combined with pumpkin. Grated vegetable in minced meat will give the meatballs more juiciness and a sweetish taste.

It is also delicious to cook turkey meatballs with the addition of millet, cooked until half cooked. They are combined with potatoes, zucchini, and broccoli. Caring and enterprising mothers and fathers can come up with many delicious variations. The benefits of such nutrition for the growth and development of the baby are obvious. And the taste is simply incredible.

Good day, dear parents. Today you will learn how to cook meatballs for children. You will become familiar with cooking recipes for both beef and chicken. Let's look at the features of preparing this dish for little toddlers.

Meatball soup for little ones

Cooking instructions

  • Prepare leeks, carrots and bell peppers by simmering over low heat. All vegetables should be chopped finely.
  • Boil water in a small saucepan and cook meat balls rolled from ground turkey in it.
  • Immediately add the finely diced potatoes. Cook for 15 minutes. Afterwards, add the stewed vegetables to the broth and cook for another 5 minutes.

Spices in children's soup will be unnecessary. But vermicelli is not suitable for satiety.

You can sprinkle a small amount of small pasta along with the vegetables (towards the end of cooking the soup). This is done in order not to cook the vermicelli for a long time, otherwise it will boil and deprive the broth of its appetizing transparency.

Cooking features

  1. Minced meat can be used either purchased or prepared yourself. If you are preparing a dish for a child under one year old, then you should not rely on the store-bought version. It is important to know what is mixed in it and use only fresh meat.
  2. If the minced meat has a liquid consistency, then you can add semolina; some housewives add flour. When using semolina, do not forget to set aside the minced meat for about fifteen minutes so that it has time to swell, and only then begin to form the meatballs.
  3. If you are cooking for a child who is 2 years old, then you can stick some extra meatballs, put them in the freezer, and then defrost them in a fairly hot broth before boiling.
  4. There is no need to boil the products for too long, otherwise they will lose their valuable qualities.
  5. When boiling, collect the foam that floats to the surface of the water.
  6. Try to feed your baby freshly prepared food, not yesterday's food.

At what age should it be introduced into the diet?

Every mother wonders when to start feeding her baby soup. Pediatricians disagree. Some experts allow the introduction of liquid from 6 months, others allow only after 11–12.

But there is also a common opinion, which most doctors adhere to - breastfed children are given the first dose later than babies fed formula.

It is worth noting that the soup is easy to prepare. Even a beginner can master its recipe, especially since the dish can be cooked both on the stove and in a slow cooker.

What ingredients to use

The kids' first friends on their menu are vegetables; they are what the soup is cooked with. Potatoes, carrots and white cabbage will be a good addition to lean broth. It is better to offer meat and dishes from it at one and a half years.

Introduction Tips:

  • It is recommended to give meat to your baby after he has tasted the puree from this product.
  • You can accustom your child to new food by adding it to already familiar dishes, for example, broth with vegetables.
  • For the first time, 1–2 tsp will be enough for the child. soup, then increase the volume by 1-2 tablespoons.
  • For a balanced diet, prepare different broths. Alternate milk, vegetable, meat and fish soups daily, taking into account the age range.

The inclusion of new dishes in the children's menu depends on the baby's development, the presence of teeth and individual food preferences.

How to start complementary feeding

To begin with, one spoon of broth, which is used as an additive to vegetable puree, is enough. If the new product is suitable, then increase the portions every day to 30 ml. But until the baby is one year old, you should not give more than 50 ml.

After a year, you can safely introduce chicken, beef, and meatballs made from them into your diet. At this time, there is no longer any need to limit portions. At 1–2 years old, a child can safely eat 200–250 ml of meat broth.

After 12 months, babies are also prepared meatballs and cutlets from chicken or turkey, if meat broth is suitable.

Chicken meatballs

Chicken meatballs for a child can be prepared using the following ingredients:

  • minced chicken - three hundred grams;
  • half an onion;
  • egg;
  • flour - one and a half tablespoons;
  • salt.
  1. Place the minced meat in a bowl and leave for about thirty minutes.

  2. Finely chop the onion.

  3. Beat an egg into a bowl of meat, add onion and add some salt. Mix everything thoroughly.

  4. Add flour to the finished minced meat and knead.
  5. Form balls.
  6. Throw the meatballs into boiling water and cook for about fifteen minutes.

Plus a rabbit

  • rabbit fillet – two hundred and fifty grams;
  • chicken fillet – two hundred and fifty grams;
  • boiled carrots – seventy grams;
  • onions - twenty grams;
  • boiled potatoes - one hundred grams;
  • egg - one piece;
  • butter - about fifty grams;
  • a couple of sprigs of greenery;
  • salt.
  1. Grind the meat using a meat grinder and mix thoroughly until smooth.

  2. To the resulting mass add butter and potatoes, which have been previously boiled and chopped.

  3. Boiled carrots are grated and added to the minced meat.

  4. Mix everything well, add salt, beat in an egg, add finely chopped herbs.
  5. The products are formed into balls and boiled for ten to fifteen minutes. If you use a slow cooker, the cooking process will take about forty minutes.

Tender meatballs in a slow cooker

Ingredients:

  • 500 g ground turkey;
  • carrot;
  • zucchini;
  • 150 g rice cereal;
  • parmesan cheese;
  • olive oil.

Step by step recipe

  • Grind thoroughly washed fresh turkey fillet into minced meat. Add grated carrots and chopped zucchini to lean ground meat.
  • Rinse and boil the rice, and then add it to the minced meat. Stir the products until smooth and form small round pieces from it.
  • Grease the inside of the multi-pan with olive oil, not forgetting the sides.

If you don’t want to add fat at all, you can place scalded cabbage leaves on the bottom.

Cook the meatballs on the “Stew” option for 30 minutes. Afterwards, leave them to warm up in the bowl of the device for another 10 minutes.

Mixed with semolina

For this recipe you need to have:

  • minced chicken – one hundred grams;
  • minced beef – one hundred grams;
  • quail egg - two pieces;
  • semolina - three teaspoons;
  • salt.
  1. The two minced meats are mixed together.

  2. Add salt, beat in eggs, add semolina. The finished minced meat is left for about fifteen minutes so that it has time to swell.

  3. Form small balls. Dip into boiling water. Cook until fully cooked.

I cooked meatballs for my child according to exactly this recipe, sometimes replacing the quail eggs with one chicken egg. They turn out to be quite tasty, both for individual consumption and when added to soup.

How long to cook chicken meatballs for a child

The advantage of minced chicken is that there is no need to cook it for too long - poultry dishes are cooked instantly, which significantly saves the young mother’s time. And if the chicken fillet was purchased at a retail outlet where they sell broilers specially raised for sale, then you will have to cook the meatballs even less.

We would like to point out that poultry and old cockerels are not very suitable for baby food, because such meat is very tough, usually noticeably dry and lacking in juiciness. Yes, and the homemade product will have to be heat treated longer than usual. First of all, because the meat of domestic chickens is tightly packed and difficult to chew - it needs to be thoroughly boiled.

But remember that ready-made minced meat is a completely unsuitable ingredient for children's dishes. Because most often it is not possible to determine its freshness and composition. So, ideally, chicken meatballs are prepared entirely by the hands of a caring mother. Moreover, with modern household appliances, chopping fillet into minced meat is not a labor-intensive process.

  • Meatballs are usually boiled until they all float to the surface. After this, time it for a few more minutes (from 3 to 10, depending on the size of the meatball), and bring the dish to complete readiness.
  • There is no need to boil poultry dishes for too long, unless you are preparing them from old chicken or homemade dry fillet. Then the cooking time can increase up to two times.
  • But it is also undesirable for a child to overcook meatballs, because with excessive heat treatment, high-protein poultry meat becomes rubbery and loses its delicate structure and is poorly chewed. If you notice that the meatballs have become dense, it means you have overcooked them.
  • A frozen product from the freezer is no different from fresh minced meat. It is placed in boiling water and cooked for the same amount of time as chicken meatballs made from fresh ingredients.
  • It’s easy to check the readiness of a child’s treat: remove one meatball from boiling water and cut it into two parts with a fork. If the inside of the meat is the same color as the outside, then the dish is ready. If the mince looks reddish or pink, the meatballs need to be cooked for a few more minutes.

Steaming

For a 1 year old baby, you can prepare this dish in a double boiler or in a steam bath. For this recipe we will use chicken. So you will need:

  • fillet – one hundred grams;
  • two tbsp. spoons of cottage cheese;
  • one egg (chicken);
  • teaspoon butter;
  • salt.
  1. Grind the meat in a meat grinder.

  2. Beat an egg into the minced meat and add the remaining ingredients. Mix everything thoroughly.

  3. Forming meatballs.

  4. The products are sent to the steamer. Readiness is checked by testing, no earlier than after twenty-five minutes.

Now you know how and how much to cook meatballs for toddlers. Don’t forget that the cooking time is directly affected by the type of meat used, the cooking method (boiled, steamed or in a slow cooker) and the size of the balls. Treat your little one with meatballs as an addition to porridge or puree, or add them to children's soup.

Meatballs in creamy sauce

Cooking method

  • Cut the peeled onion into small cubes. Rinse the greens with water and chop with a knife. Set aside a little for the gravy.
  • Place the prepared ingredients in a small bowl. Add finely ground ground turkey and one egg. Stir the products until smooth.
  • Prepare a greased or silicone mold.
  • Roll the mixture into equal balls and place them in a baking dish with spaces between them. Place in the oven at medium temperature for about a quarter of an hour.
  • While the meatballs are cooking, grate the cheese and press the garlic cloves through a press. Mix the products, pour in the cream, add the remaining dill.
  • After half an hour, remove the pan and pour the gravy over the meatballs. Return the pan to the oven for 20 minutes.
