The fillet of such sea fish contains about 20% proteins (the liver is only 5%), and their digestibility is several times higher than in meat of animal origin. How many calories are in fish? No more than 80 kcal, which allows it to be included in the diet. But you need to keep in mind that cod liver contains a lot of fat. Its calorie content is about 613 kcal. Despite this, such a liver contains many vitamins (A, B, C, D), micro and macroelements (calcium, phosphorus, iron and others), and unsaturated acids.

Fish soup for a child begins to be given from 1 year of age. At the same time, it is necessary to follow special rules for their preparation, even for a one-year-old child who is not prone to allergic manifestations.

How to cook cod for a child?

The most common methods of processing cod for children's menus are boiling, baking in foil and steaming. Fillet and fish steaks are often boiled or fried with a minimum amount of oil. Much will depend on the baby’s taste preferences and his age:

From 6 to 12 months. Beforehand, be sure to remove all the bones from the cod and boil it. At one time it is allowed to give pieces of thermally processed fish the size of two adult’s little fingers. This is the amount of fish that is considered safe for the fragile digestive tract of the smallest.

From 12 to 24 months. At this age, you can safely cook meatballs or meatballs from cod. It is recommended to diversify the diet with fresh fish fillets from time to time so that the child does not become addicted to dishes in the form of balls.

Compound:

  • 4-5 pcs. potato tubers;
  • 2-3 tbsp. l. rice cereal;
  • 1-2 pcs. carrot root vegetables;
  • 2-3 pcs. onion heads;
  • 3.5 liters of filtered water;
  • ground allspice and black peppercorns to taste;
  • 2 tbsp. l. vodka.

Preparation:

  1. Let's start with processing fish carcasses.
  2. We defrost them, cut off the head, tail and fins.
  3. We clean the insides, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
  4. Place the carcasses and heads in a thick-walled pan.
  5. Fill with filtered water and place on medium heat.
  6. Remove any foam from the boiling broth using a slotted spoon.
  7. Cook the broth for half an hour.
  8. Place the boiled fish on a plate.
  9. We discard the heads, and separate the fillets from the bones and put them back into the pan.
  10. Peel onions, potato tubers and carrot roots.
  11. We wash the vegetables and chop them.
  12. Place the chopped vegetables into the boiling broth.
  13. Rinse the rice grains thoroughly until the water is clear and add to the soup.
  14. The soup will cook for about half an hour until it is ready.
  15. Taste the broth and add salt, pour in vodka.
  16. Season with ground allspice and peppercorns.
  17. Leave for a few minutes with the lid closed.
  18. Serve with sprigs of fresh herbs and a lemon wedge.

Children's cod soup

A diet that includes cod soup will be beneficial for the child. Why? The answer is obvious: the white meat of this fish contains easily digestible protein (when compared with other species). It promotes harmonious growth and development.

A simple yet delicious and nutritious cod soup that can be prepared in just a few minutes.

This dish is suitable for a child of any age (the main thing is to check the soup for bones before serving).

A minimum set of ingredients will be required:

  • 200 g of fresh chilled fish fillet (frozen can also be used, but then the quality of the soup will be noticeably worse);
  • a small amount of fresh dill;
  • 2-3 feathers of green onions;
  • medium sized onion;
  • medium carrot;
  • 1-2 potatoes (depending on size);
  • salt or ground pepper.

The cooking process itself is also quite simple and straightforward. Even a novice housewife can cope:

  1. Take one liter of liquid into a saucepan and put it on gas. Bring to boiling point (100 °C).
  2. While waiting for it to boil, rinse under running water and peel the vegetables. Chop the potatoes not too finely, but not too coarsely: something in between so that a child can easily eat them. Finely chop the onion, carrots too (you can use a grater or in a blender).
  3. Salt boiling water and add potatoes. Wait until it cooks.
  4. Place the remaining vegetables into the pan.
  5. While everything is cooking, check the fish for the presence of small bones (if found, remove with tweezers).
  6. Throw cod fillet, ground pepper, and chopped herbs into a saucepan 10-15 minutes until fully cooked.
  7. Wait a little while the soup infuses and pour into plates.

Another option for preparing baby fish soup with cod involves adding rice. This is a very simple, but at the same time delicious recipe with tomatoes, suitable for any time of year.

What you will need for preparation:

  • 0.5 kg fish fillet;
  • one onion;
  • one carrot;
  • sweet red pepper;
  • one tomato;
  • rice (the amount of cereal depends on how thick the soup should be);
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil;
  • salt, pepper to taste;
  • 2 liters of water.

Algorithm of actions:

  1. Rinse the vegetables thoroughly (you can use soda) and cut into cubes.
  2. Cut the cod fillet into small pieces, remove all the bones.
  3. Fry peppers, carrots, onions and tomatoes in a saucepan for about 3 minutes.
  4. Add 2 liters of water to a small saucepan.
  5. After the liquid boils, add rice to it. Cover the saucepan with a lid. Cook the cereal over low heat until completely cooked.

Each baby develops according to its own scenario. What is good for one may cause irreparable harm to another child. There are certain features of culinary processing and standards for introducing certain types of fish into the diet for children.

Basic recommendations

At what age can you give fish soup to a child? What kind of fish is best to cook with? To avoid negative consequences and prevent the occurrence of an allergic reaction, you must remember that:

  • Fish should be introduced in small portions, while observing the baby’s reaction. If adverse effects occur, this product is excluded from the diet for a long period (about two to six months).
  • Gradually increase the portion. Complementary feeding begins with 1–2 grams for children under one year old and is gradually increased to 40 g.
  • You can give fish puree soup to children over 1 year old.
  • We exclude salt. Small children should not add salt to their food, since many products contain it in sufficient quantities for a small body.
  • You should not introduce new dishes to your baby’s menu 2 weeks before and after preventive vaccinations.
  • Fish soup for children or fish puree, soup with meatballs prepared in a slow cooker should be given to a child under one year old no more than 2-3 times a week.
  • Fried fish is strictly prohibited for children under 3 years of age, and smoked fish can only be consumed from six years of age. For children from one to three years old, it is better to cook fish dishes in a double boiler, slow cooker, or bake and add to soup.
  • When preparing soup for a one-year-old child, you must avoid fish broth. Thoroughly cleaned skinless fish (preferably fillets) are cooked separately. The finished fish is chopped and added to the vegetable broth.

It’s better to start your first fish acquaintance with boiled fish. For a nine-month-old baby, low-fat varieties with a fat content of up to 4% (saithe, hake, pollock, perch) are suitable. Up to a year, boiled or steamed fish is administered in a pureed consistency or as pureed fish soup for children. The ideal option is fish soup made from pollock or cod, but not soup made from canned fish. You should not load a fragile child’s body with substances that will do more harm than good. Soup is not given to a 9 month old baby due to the high allergenicity of fish products. After the baby has become familiar with fish puree, you can offer the baby meatballs or fish ball dishes.

Baby cod soufflé

This is the most delicate recipe for a children's cod dish. An ideal first feeding option.

Ingredients:

  • 200 g cod;
  • 2 egg yolks;
  • 100 ml milk;
  • 0.5 tsp. butter or vegetable oil;
  • salt.

Cooking method:

  1. Cut the defrosted or chilled fish into medium cubes.
  2. Add these pieces to the blender container along with the egg yolks. Salt, spices to taste. Grind.
  3. Transfer the mixture into silicone bowls greased with oil. Place them in a double boiler or water bath for 30-45 minutes.

Fish soup with meatballs for children

Ingredients: pike perch - 100 g, water - 400 ml, white roots - 10 g, carrots - 10 g, onions - 5 g, potatoes - 50 g, semolina - 8 g, dill, salt. For meatballs: bun - 15 g, butter - 1/3 teaspoon, egg - 1/2 pc.

Clean fresh fish from scales and gut them. Trim meat from bones and skin and rinse. Cook broth with onions and roots from the bones, head and skin. Pass the cut pulp through a meat grinder twice with a roll previously soaked in milk and squeezed out. Add a piece of butter, salt, beaten egg to the minced meat and mix well. Roll into hazelnut-sized meatballs (4-5 pieces per serving). Strain the fish soup, add salt, boil, add semolina, add diced potatoes. Cook covered for 10-15 minutes, then add the meatballs and cook for another 10-15 minutes.

Weaning age

Before cooking soup, you need to accustom your baby to a new product. Acquaintance begins at approximately 8–9 months of age. For the first feeding, take fish puree. Give half a teaspoon once a week.

If the child accepted the new food well, did not develop inflammation, or had any indigestion, then feel free to increase the volume. Closer to 12 months, children are allowed to eat 50–70 g of puree at a time.

Recipe for saury fish soup.

Many adult lovers of fish soup can afford soups made from canned saury. For kids, you can prepare its analogue from fresh fish, adapted to the characteristics of the child’s body. This aromatic saury soup with rice can be fed to children who have recently become acquainted with fish. For older children (2–3 years old), it can be varied with herbs, parsley root, and celery.

  • 150 g saury fillet;
  • 1 tbsp. l. rice;
  • 1 potato;
  • 1⁄2 carrots;
  • 1⁄2 onion;
  • 2 tbsp. water.
  1. The fish fillet must be boiled, cooled, and cut into pieces.
  2. At the same time, prepare a broth from vegetables: boil the peeled vegetables, then remove from the resulting broth.
  3. Add prepared rice and cook for 20 minutes.
  4. Add fish and chopped vegetables, boil for 3 minutes.
  5. Let's give it to the baby to try.

Child's soup with meatballs

Ingredients:

  • pike perch or cod - 100 g;
  • onion - 5 g;
  • purified water - 40 g;
  • white bread - 15 g;
  • butter - 5 g;
  • egg - ¼ pcs.;
  • salt solution - 5 g;
  • milk - 3 tablespoons.

You can use the whole fish. In this case, the carcass must be washed, gutted, fins cut off, scales removed, and cut into pieces. You can also use ready-made fillets. But with whole fish the broth is richer and more aromatic.

Cooking step by step

  1. Prepare the fish carcass: remove scales, thoroughly gut and rinse, fillet. Boil the head and backbone with onions until tender. The onion can be put in whole, and 15 minutes after the start of cooking, remove it and throw it away.
  2. Strain the finished broth through a sieve or cheesecloth.
  3. Roll the fillet into meatballs. To do this, pass the fish fillet through a meat grinder twice with bread previously soaked in milk. Add butter, beaten egg and salt. Mix and form balls - meatballs.
  4. Place the meatballs into the hot broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and continue cooking for another 10–15 minutes.
