Children's nutrition should be varied and healthy so that the child grows up healthy. Every time, preparing another portion for their child, mothers try to make it not only tasty, but also in such a way that even the most capricious kids do not refuse food. Today we will tell you a few secrets for preparing meatballs for the children's menu.

How to cook meatballs for a child?

Meatballs for children under one year of age are best prepared from lean and dietary meat. Turkey or rabbit pulp is suitable for this. Starting from the age of one year, meatballs for a child can already be made from lean beef or pork, as well as from veal or chicken.

Starting from the age of two, dishes with fish balls are prepared for children. If a child does not like the overly pronounced taste of fish, such meatballs can be added to soup, then some of the flavor is lost.

For young children, it is best to form meatballs from boiled meat, since today it is impossible to be completely sure that it does not contain traces of hormonal drugs or antibiotics. During cooking, all unnecessary substances, if any, go into the broth. The broth itself should not be given to children.

Many kids don't like meat! Of course, you have to chew it! If your baby doesn’t eat meat precisely for this reason, then meatball soup will help you out great. It cooks much faster than regular meat soups, and your baby will surely like it. I indicated the amount of ingredients for the soup for the whole family, because not only children, but also adults love this soup. We put water in a saucepan on the fire and deal with the potatoes - peel, wash, cut into medium cubes or small cubes (depending on how small your children are). When the water boils, throw the potatoes into the pan.

Three carrots on a fine grater. And cut the onion as finely as possible. I do not fry onions and carrots if children will eat the soup. When the potatoes boil, add carrots and onions.

Now it's time for the meatballs. They can be made from any minced meat (beef, chicken, turkey, etc.). But it’s better not to include pork in the diet of young children; they overinject it with antibiotics, and you don’t want health problems for your own children, do you? I make the minced meat myself. I don’t use store-bought minced meat. I immediately make and freeze cutlets and meatballs from minced meat. I freeze the meatballs on a board covered with a bag so they don’t stick together, and then put them in a bag. Throw the meatballs into the soup one at a time to prevent them from sticking together. Now throw the noodles into the water. I break it smaller. After the meatballs float to the surface, cook for another 7-10 minutes.

Turn off the stove. Add salt to taste to the soup (I don’t add salt to children’s soups) and any greens in any quantity.

Turkey is ideal as the first meat food for 1-year-old children. This bird requires high-quality food and similar housing conditions. Therefore, its meat is of high quality and healthy composition. In addition, it is dietary, does not contain cholesterol and is not allergenic. Such indicators allow us to consider it the most suitable for a children's menu.

Meatball soup for little ones

This recipe calls for frying, but it won't be cooked traditionally. The vegetables just need to be simmered in a frying pan in a drop of olive oil with added water.

Required ingredients:

  • ground turkey;
  • leek;
  • carrot;
  • bell pepper;
  • potato;
  • olive oil.

Cooking instructions

  • Prepare leeks, carrots and bell peppers by simmering over low heat. All vegetables should be chopped finely.
  • Boil water in a small saucepan and cook meat balls rolled from ground turkey in it.
  • Immediately add the finely diced potatoes. Cook for 15 minutes. Afterwards, add the stewed vegetables to the broth and cook for another 5 minutes.

Spices in children's soup will be unnecessary. But vermicelli is not suitable for satiety.

You can sprinkle a small amount of small pasta along with the vegetables (towards the end of cooking the soup). This is done in order not to cook the vermicelli for a long time, otherwise it will boil and deprive the broth of its appetizing transparency.

Preparation

Even if you have ready-made minced meat, twist it at least one more time so that the meat is homogeneous and the meatballs are soft and tender. Add onion to the minced meat and grind (with a meat grinder or blender). Even if you are cooking for a baby, onions won’t hurt.

Cut off the crust from the pieces of bread, cut the crumb into small cubes, place in a bowl, into which beat the egg and pour in the milk. Stir until the bread cubes absorb liquid.

After this, add to the minced meat, which you grind again - this way the minced meat will be more homogeneous than if you just add and mash the crumb. Salt the finished minced meat and mix.

Grease a frying pan, wide saucepan or saucepan with butter. Make small (no larger than a walnut) meatballs from the minced meat and place in a bowl (place at a short distance from each other).

Pour water halfway up the meatballs.

Place over medium heat until the water boils. After this, cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and cook for 7-10 minutes.

Make the sauce. Lightly toast the flour. Pour in the milk (preferably while it is hot), rubbing the flour thoroughly. You can remove the pan from the heat while pouring in the milk.

Add oil. Stir and let it boil while stirring constantly. Pour over meatballs. Simmer until the sauce thickens (7 minutes).

To serve, transfer the meatballs and strain the sauce. And although they are tasty and at room temperature, still feed your baby warm.

For children's meatballs, lean beef or veal is suitable. They will be tasty and more tender if you add a little (about a third) of minced chicken.

Instead of onions, you can use the white part of the leek, which has a milder taste.

Any soup is an important dish in children's nutrition. In fact, preparing a delicious soup for a 2-year-old child is not difficult, but still, in this article I would like to focus on a specific type of soup - with meatballs.

What and how to properly prepare meatballs for soup? Should I use fish or meat? What vegetables or other foods should I add? We will try to answer all these questions today.

Starting from about six months, puree soups and cream soups can be introduced into children’s diets. Then, when the baby begins to be accustomed to solid food, soups are boiled with pieces of vegetables so that the baby learns to chew. Meatball soup is allowed to be given to children from one and a half years old.
