Beef stewed with vegetables
Ingredients
- 200 g beef
- 1/2 carrot
- 20 g parsley or celery root
- 1/2 head of onion
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons butter
- salt
Cooking steps
Trim off excess fat from the meat, melt the butter in a saucepan, put the meat in, add salt and fry until a crust forms. Add finely chopped onions, carrots, parsley (or celery) and fry the meat and vegetables for another 10 minutes.
Then fill the meat halfway with water, add tomato paste and simmer for about 1.5 hours (determine the degree of readiness by piercing with a fork - the finished meat is easily pierced).
After this, cut the meat into small slices, put it back into the pan where it was stewed (into the resulting juice), and bring to a boil.
Choosing the right cut
The pieces should be pink-red in color and have a moist tint.
Press on the meat, if it easily and quickly regains its shape, the product is fresh. If the meat was frozen and then thawed, then this process will happen much more slowly.
If liquid has accumulated at the point of pressure, then most likely there are additives in the meat, or it is not entirely fresh.
Place a paper napkin on the meat - if there is a large wet spot on it, then it is better not to take the meat.
The smell emitted should have a slightly sweet taste; if there are other notes, then you need to look for another piece.
The large volume of the piece of pork tenderloin suggests that it was quite a large, and possibly aged, animal. The smaller the pieces, the tastier.
Pieces that are too dark indicate the age of the pig, and pieces that are too light indicate hormones added for rapid growth.
- A fresh piece can be stored in a refrigerator compartment at a temperature of about zero degrees for no more than three days.
- It is necessary to ensure free access of air, otherwise the meat will “suffocate”.
- In the freezer, the shelf life increases to six months; repeated freezing worsens the taste of pork.

Harm from pork
Some children develop allergies as a result of eating pork. This is one of the main reasons why you cannot start complementary meat feeding with such a product, and pork should be introduced into the children's menu with extreme caution.
Fatty pork especially often provokes an allergic reaction, so only lean parts are used for baby food.
It should also be remembered that fried pork dishes are contraindicated for children under at least 3 years of age. Barbecue and other excessively fatty dishes made from such meat should not be included in the menu of young children. Failure to follow these recommendations can lead to problems in the digestive tract and other ailments.

It also has the following features:
- Pork meat contains more B vitamins than beef.
- Pork tenderloin contains more protein than chicken, beef and turkey.
- Due to the lower content of connective tissue, this type of meat cooks faster, and cooked or stewed pork is easier to chew.
- Thanks to the fatty layers, pork meat remains juicy during baking.

Foods in the diet of a two-year-old child
The basis of the menu for two years is porridge, light cream soups, lean meat and fish, fermented milk products, vegetables and fruits growing in the area where the family lives. Porridges are made liquid or viscous, vegetables for stewing are finely chopped, and the meat is minced in a meat grinder. The child should learn to bite and chew solid foods, which make up a large part of the adult diet.
Basic diet
The diet of two-year-old children must include:
- Dairy products. Must be on the menu every day. Yogurt, kefir, fermented baked milk, and sour cream are good for your baby. Whole milk (if you are not allergic to its proteins) can be used to prepare cereals, cocoa, or given as an independent drink. The daily intake of butter for 2 years is 10 grams (including porridge, casseroles, and other dishes), cottage cheese (6-9%) – 30 grams, kefir (3.2%) – 500 ml, hard unsalted cheese – 10 grams.
- Cereals. They contain carbohydrates that have a positive effect on the nervous system and provide energy. Baby food should contain oatmeal, buckwheat, rice, millet, and barley porridge. Pearl barley is given after three years.
Instead of sugar, you can add dried fruits to the porridge, so it will be even tastier and healthier

How to choose the right beef
In order for children's beef dishes to really benefit your baby, they must not only be prepared correctly, but also be able to choose the main component - meat. Beef dishes for children are prepared only from fresh, high-quality ingredients, but meanwhile, purchasing a stale or contaminated product can cause irreparable harm to the child’s health.
Firstly, you should buy beef on the market only when there is absolute confidence that the animal whose meat is being sold is free of diseases. Since there are diseases that a person can become infected with through meat. But the product arriving on the shelves of large retail outlets is tested.
Pressing on it with your finger will help you understand how fresh the meat is - if a reddish pit remains in this place, which then smoothes out, it means you have a quality product. Don’t forget to smell the piece – there shouldn’t be any rotten or sour smell!
Examine the beef from all sides: “marbled” color with streaks of white fat is a sign of the quality of the product. The product must be free of slime or mold.
Ask the seller where the meat came from - the further it has traveled, the more likely it has been treated with antibiotics or other substances to preserve shelf life.
You can store the purchased product fresh in the refrigerator only for 2-4 days at a temperature of 0 to +5 degrees.
