What should a child's day be like at 2 months: approximate routine and advice for parents

Time flies quickly - and now the baby is 2 months old. He has grown noticeably and is already smiling when he sees his mother. Yes, the baby’s speech is still slurred, but now you can see how the child’s personality begins to emerge. During this period, newborns continue to sleep a lot, 15-20 hours a day.

But the time is distributed unevenly: many kids rest for no more than 3-4 hours at a time.

If parents have not taught the baby the concept of “day-night” in the first month, now is the time to make every effort to build a child’s daily routine at 2 months. This is not possible right away. But when it works out, the parents will have free time to take care of the housework, and will also have some time left for rest.

What is the mode for?

The daily routine is the alternation of various types of physical and mental activity. Every child needs it because:

  • brings stability to the baby's life;
  • helps parents organize their lives correctly;
  • teaches the baby to follow a certain daily routine;
  • helps to streamline the process of feeding a newborn, thereby improving digestion.

You can start thinking about the regimen from the second month of a baby’s life. At this time, the child begins to stay awake longer and more actively, and the frequency of feedings decreases.

Changes in the routine of a two-month-old baby

When a baby turns 2 months old, his intestinal colic gradually goes away, and he begins to sleep longer at night, waking up only for one or two feedings. Also at this age, you can increase the duration of walks (especially in the warm season), add a second evening walk in the cold season. Massages, gymnastics, educational games and activities appear on the schedule.

Daily routine for a baby

Establishing a regime

Daily routine of a one-year-old child

You need to establish a daily routine gradually so that a sudden change in the time of getting up or feeding does not become stressful for the baby. Experts recommend shifting your usual feeding or waking time by 2-3 minutes every day. A sample daily routine includes:

  • 8:00 – rise;
  • 10:00 – sleep while walking;
  • 11:00 – feeding, waking up, massage or gymnastics;
  • 12:00 – sleep while walking;
  • 14:00 – feeding;
  • 15:00 – sleep while walking;
  • 17:00 – awakening, feeding, educational games and activities;
  • 18:00 – sleep;
  • 20:00 – evening swimming;
  • 21:00 – night sleep.

During night sleep, several feedings are possible on demand (for a baby); for an artificial baby, only one night meal is allowed.

Breastfeeding schedule

When breastfeeding, additional meals may be included in the schedule at the request of the baby. For example, if your baby wakes up and gets hungry during a walk, in the summer you can feed him in a secluded place, covering him with a sling scarf. Also, during the day, the baby will have to change diapers frequently; Breastfed children have more bowel movements than formula-fed children.

Schedule for artificial people

The most important thing for artificially fed animals is not to violate the established feeding time under any circumstances. If your child wakes up earlier than usual and is hungry, you can give him a pacifier to satisfy his sucking reflex. Between meals, it is necessary to give the baby drinking water several times a day. Otherwise, the artificial baby’s schedule is no different from the daily routine of a 2-month-old baby suckling at the mother’s breast.

You should feed your artificial baby by the hour.
You should feed your artificial baby by the hour.

Approximate daily routine by hour

Is the above version of the daily routine of a 2-month-old baby always observed? Of course not. The baby may wake up later and eat earlier. It's not scary. It is important that the parents themselves adhere to the established schedule, then the child will live according to the schedule.

Two month old baby's sleep

Photo 3Mandatory rule: the baby should sleep 16 hours a day or more. The quality of your baby's sleep is a very important point.

If the baby has had enough sleep, then his health will be excellent and he will have enough strength to be active. A poorly rested child is whiny and apathetic. Sleep for a 2-month-old baby is a physiological necessity, and disruption of rest is unnatural and harmful.

How to instill healthy sleep habits in your child? Study the signs of fatigue in your baby. A 2-month-old baby cannot stay awake for more than 2 hours at a time. Otherwise, he will become overtired and will not be able to sleep. Watch your baby: if you notice drowsiness, immediately put him in his crib. By studying your baby's biorhythms, you will know when he is ready to sleep.

Give your baby a chance to fall asleep on his own: put him in his crib when he is sleepy but not yet asleep. Experts do not recommend rocking and feeding a baby before resting, as this will quickly become a habit. But all children are different, so you need to try. Does your baby sleep alone in the crib?

Photo 5
This means you need to put it next to you. Don’t try to “educate” the baby - she will cry and fall asleep. Yes, he will fall asleep from fatigue, but the need to be close to his mother will not disappear and will result in long night sobs.

Children whose parents placed them next to each other at the first request, on the contrary, then calmly “went” to sleep in their crib, because their need was satisfied.

Recommended hours for sleep:

  • in the morning from 7-30 to 9-30 and from 11-00 to 1 pm;
  • during the day from 14-30 to 16-30 and from 17-30 to 19-30;
  • in the evening from 21-00 to 23-30;
  • at night from 24-00 to 6 am.

In order for a baby to sleep healthy, the air in the room should be comfortable - 20-24 degrees.

Nutrition of a newborn at 2 months of life

The number of feedings for a newborn at this age is 6-7 times a day with a break of 2.5-3.5 hours. At night, the pause can last up to 6-7 hours. The best food is mother's milk.

Photo 6
If lactation worsens, the following measures should be taken:

  • drink herbal infusions;
  • don’t be shy about getting proper rest. Ask your loved ones to do some household chores, and try to get some sleep;
  • Tea with milk helps a lot.

If these measures do not produce results, consult a doctor and select a diet based on the age and individual characteristics of the baby.

A common mistake mothers make is early introduction of new foods (juices, yoghurts) into the baby’s diet. Do not listen to other people's advice, consult only a pediatrician. If the baby feeds on breast milk, then up to 6 months he will have enough nutrients contained in it. For bottle-fed babies, additional foods are introduced at 1-1.5 months.

A special diet is used only for premature or underweight babies.

Swimming and gymnastics

Photo 7
You need to bathe your baby every day. It is good to add extracts of soothing herbs to the bath. Do not use shampoos, try to wash your baby with solid baby soap. Water temperature is from 28 to 36 degrees.

After bathing, keep your baby naked for a few minutes, then moisturize the skin with cream. If you have diaper rash, treat it with Vaseline overnight and dry it with baby powder in the morning.

The best time for the procedure is before bedtime. But if the baby has an excitable nervous system, then it is better to swim during the day or at 6 pm.

Infant gymnastics takes place in the morning. Exercise helps get rid of constipation and colic.

Place your baby on his back and do the following exercises:

  • spread and cross your arms;
  • bend your knees, pressing them to your tummy;
  • pull out the handles one by one;
  • imitate “riding a bicycle.”

Walks and games

Experts advise being with your baby in the fresh air more often - 2-3 hours: from 9 to 11 am in the morning and from 4 to 6 pm in the evening .
In winter, when the temperature is below 10 degrees, you should not go for a walk. A 2-month-old baby is able to play for 1.5 hours straight. He can already control his body and makes a lot of different movements. The best toy during this period is a rattle. It’s better if there are several of them: different shapes and colors. The item can be placed in the baby's hand or hung above the crib.

All this will help develop fine motor skills, distinguish colors, and better perceive sounds. Another accessible game is to hold the baby in your arms, sing songs with him and talk.

Organization of sleep at 2 months

According to the regime, a two-month-old baby needs to sleep 11-12 hours at night. During this time, night feedings and diaper changes (if necessary) are included. The child should sleep four times during the day. The duration of each daytime nap is 1.5-2 hours. The best way to build a sleep schedule is this way:

  • 10:00 – 11:30;
  • 12:00 – 13:30;
  • 15:00 – 16:30;
  • 18:00 – 19:30.

What temperature should a child have at 3 months?

Going to bed at night may vary depending on your usual evening bathing time. If your baby is tired, you should put him to bed a little earlier. An active baby who sleeps a lot during the day, on the other hand, should be allowed to stay awake more.

A baby who sleeps soundly during the day should not be awakened. However, if the last daytime nap took a little longer, it is better to carefully wake up the baby so that you can then put him to bed for the night without any problems.

Attention! According to the regime, a 2-month-old child is supposed to go for walks at least twice a day. The best sleep for a child is in the fresh air. In summer you can walk in any weather, with the exception of hail and strong wind. In winter, it is not recommended to go outside when the air temperature is below -10 degrees.

How long should a two-month-old baby sleep, and how long should he stay awake?

Photo 2Caring mothers often ask pediatricians how much a child sleeps at 2 months.
Experts answer this question differently. Much depends on the individual characteristics of the baby: the state of his nervous system, degree of activity, type of feeding. For example, active children sleep soundly and longer. The sleep of capricious and excitable babies is superficial and short-lived. Artificial people usually sleep longer.

This is due to the fact that it takes more time to digest the adapted formula than to process breast milk. Premature babies are weakened, so they have a longer rest period. A two-month-old baby continues to sleep most of the day. But the daytime rest period is slightly shortened. The child becomes more active. He begins to become interested in and study the world around him.

On average, a baby sleeps about 17-19 hours a day . Accordingly, it takes approximately 5-7 hours to stay awake. The duration of rest is influenced by the attitude of the parents towards the baby. Children need constant attention and contact with loved ones. If the mother is next to the baby and surrounds him with care, then he will sleep much more soundly and calmly.

At the age of 2 months, shallow, short sleep predominates in children. As you grow older, the cycles change: rest during the daytime is reduced, and during the dark it becomes stronger and longer.

Daytime

Photo 3The total duration of daytime sleep in two-month-old children is 6-8 hours. The baby is awake between feedings or regardless of them. The baby remains active for about 30-60 minutes.

This time should be used for communication, games, eye and body contact. By the age of two months, a baby can already focus his gaze and smile consciously.

The child gets tired very quickly. Therefore, during the day, wakefulness is replaced by long sleep. A feeling of hunger can disrupt your rest. This type of sleep lasts about two hours and occurs several times a day. The rest of the rest periods are short: approximately 20-40 minutes. Superficial dreams are a physiological norm.

But if the baby is capricious during the day, cries, and behaves restlessly, this means that he does not have time to restore the spent energy in 30 minutes. In such cases, parents should try to extend the child’s rest. For this purpose, you should recreate the conditions for falling asleep immediately after the baby wakes up. For example, rocking someone to sleep, singing a lullaby, telling a story.

The duration of daytime sleep may be reduced under the influence of such factors:

Photo 4

  • bright light from the window;
  • noise . For example, if the family talks loudly, watches TV or listens to music. Neighbors who have started renovations can also interfere;
  • malnutrition _ Occurs for various reasons: mother’s hard nipples, poor lactation, non-compliance with milk or formula consumption standards;
  • presence of pathology . If the baby is sick and experiencing discomfort, then his sleep may become shallow and short;
  • colic . Most children under 3-4 months of age suffer from paroxysmal abdominal pain; The accumulation of gases in the intestines causes severe discomfort, making it difficult for the child to fall asleep. The condition worsens especially after feeding.

Night time

Night sleep in two-month-old babies becomes longer and more restful than in newborns. During the dark hours, the baby may wake up once or twice to feed. It is best to put your baby to bed between 19:00 and 22:00.
In this case, it is necessary to take into account his daily routine and level of fatigue. If the baby stays awake for too long, it can become overtired. Due to the increased excitability of the nervous system, it will be more difficult for him to fall asleep.

Night rest without a break for feeding can last about 3-5 hours. In the dark, the baby rests for about 10-11 hours. Sleep plays a big role in a child's growth and development. Some pediatricians argue that the baby should rest until he feels hungry or irritating factors arise (wet diapers, noise).

A baby may often wake up in the middle of the night for the following reasons:

Photo 5

  • noise;
  • an overabundance of emotions and impressions during the day;
  • malnutrition;
  • uncomfortable crib;
  • discomfort in the abdomen;
  • stress (for example, when changing place of residence, absence of mother nearby).

The following can increase the duration of rest at night: weakness due to a pathological condition, shallow sleep during the daytime.

Features of feeding

A 2 month old baby's daily routine largely depends on meal times. Young parents often think about what their feeding schedule should be. It is not difficult to establish an artificial feeding regimen - you should adhere to the recommended intervals between meals of 3.5-4 hours. In infants, according to Dr. Komarovsky, this schedule may shift. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Weak and premature babies must be woken up for feeding;
  • On the contrary, it is better not to disturb healthy and strong babies during sleep;
  • Before putting the baby into bed after eating, he needs to be held in an upright position for 15 minutes. This is necessary for the baby to burp air;
  • There is no need to wake him up specifically for night feeding. The baby's stomach should rest for at least several hours in a row.

Feeding your baby by month

Need to know! Night feedings stimulate lactation.

If a breastfed baby receives formula supplementation, it is better to give additional food in the evening, since it is at this time that the mother’s milk supply decreases.

Breast-feeding

Pediatricians strongly recommend feeding your baby on demand. A two-month-old baby may breastfeed quite often, but this is not something to be afraid of. Gradually, the frequency of breastfeeding will decrease. If a baby on breastfeeding constantly asks to eat, but does not gain weight well, you should consult a pediatrician - perhaps the doctor will prescribe a mixed type of feeding (additional feeding with formula milk). How much milk the baby sucks can be checked using control feeding.

Artificial feeding

According to the regimen, a 2-month-old baby should receive only formula milk. The baby should not receive any additional juices, purees or complementary foods. You should not change your diet frequently - this can lead to allergies and stomach upsets.

Attention! The artificial one must be fed strictly according to the clock. If you give your baby a bottle every time he squeaks, his stomach won't be able to handle the large volume of food. The main sign of overeating is frequent, excessive regurgitation.

How to improve your baby's sleep schedule?

Experts advise accustoming your child to a routine almost from birth. This will allow the baby to grow and develop better. Parents will be able to relax more. If a child’s sleep at 2 months does not correspond to the norm, then you need to find out the reason for the deviation. It may lie in the pathological condition of the baby or be determined by the individual characteristics of the child’s body.

There are children who sleep much less than normal. At the same time, they feel good and are absolutely healthy. This means that they only need a short rest period. If the baby’s daily routine is disrupted, then you need to find out the reason for this phenomenon.

Failures may be caused by the following factors:

Photo 6

  • stress;
  • disease;
  • poor microclimate;
  • improper care of the baby (wet diapers, insufficient feeding);
  • violation of the child's daily schedule by parents.

Most often, mothers face the following problems:

  1. the child sleeps only in his arms;
  2. the baby cannot fall asleep without rocking;
  3. The baby sleeps well outside, but poorly at home.

The first problem is very relevant. Many mothers teach their children to hold hands. It should be noted that pediatrician Komarovsky believes that falling asleep in your arms is a habit that a baby can wean from in a few weeks.

Photo 7
Some doctors are against motion sickness. It is believed that such falling asleep is caused by the reaction of a weak vestibular apparatus. Motion sickness harms the baby and exhausts parents.

But, as practice shows, children who are lulled in this way grow up absolutely healthy. If the baby is used to falling asleep only on the street, then you need to reconsider the daily routine. You should only walk in the fresh air with your child during periods of wakefulness.

To make it easier to establish a routine for a two-month-old baby, you need to create comfortable conditions for him. Pediatricians recommend maintaining the room temperature at +20-21 degrees . The air humidity in the children's room should be at 50-70%.

It is necessary to ensure that dust does not accumulate near the baby's crib. To do this, it is not recommended to hang a canopy over the sleeping area or surround the child with soft toys. You also need to exclude the influence of irritating factors: noise, bright light, high or low temperature. Night lights can be used. They ensure the creation of twilight in the room.

Photo 8
It is worth paying attention to whether the baby is comfortable in the crib. You probably need to change your mattress to a firmer or softer one. Pediatricians do not recommend wrapping a child tightly.

Overheating and tight clothing can disrupt sleep. Pajamas should be comfortable, made from natural fabrics that are breathable.

The sleep schedule must be developed taking into account the biological rhythms and needs of the baby. You shouldn't wake him up in the middle of the night, as feeding time has arrived on schedule. When the child wants to eat, he will wake up on his own. If you wake up your baby during a deep sleep, he may begin to be capricious and it will be problematic to put him to bed again.

It is necessary to take into account the nature of the rest of a two-month-old child. The shallow sleep phase lasts about 40 minutes after falling asleep. Then the baby wakes up. If at this time there is a mother nearby who can stroke him and calm him down, then the baby falls asleep again and continues to rest for about 2-4 hours.

Photo 9
Children's pajamas should be well breathable

Otherwise, the child becomes capricious and active. It will be quite difficult to lay it down. To establish a sleep schedule, you need to let the baby know when to rest and when to stay awake.

For example, if according to the schedule it is time for activity, then after the baby wakes up, you can talk to him loudly and play. If according to the plan the baby needs to sleep, then you should communicate with him in a whisper. You can pet it and rock it in your arms.

Experts give parents the following advice on putting a two-month-old baby to sleep:

Photo 10

  • motion sickness If a child cannot fall asleep on his own, then there is no need to leave him alone. It is worth putting the baby in the crib after he shows signs of drowsiness: yawning, rubbing his eyes with his hands. If the baby begins to cry and ask for his mother, then you need to take him in your arms again and calm him down. As soon as he falls asleep, you should put him in a crib;
  • ritual _ Performing a certain sequence of actions before each fall asleep helps teach your baby to rest at the right time. For example, before going to bed, you can ventilate the room, bathe your baby, give him a relaxing massage;
  • falling asleep at the chest . After eating, the baby usually falls asleep quickly and deeply. It is important to carefully transfer him to his crib so as not to wake him. It is necessary to ensure that when the baby falls asleep at the breast, he does not choke on milk.

Only a healthy baby should be taught to rest. If there are symptoms of pathology, then you need to visit a pediatrician with your child and undergo a treatment course.

Wakefulness routine of a 2 month old baby

When planning a schedule, you should take into account the individual characteristics of the baby associated with genetic predisposition. If the parents are night owls (they get up late, productivity increases in the evening), then the baby will most likely also wake up late and stay awake for a long time in the evening. The same situation will happen in a family of “early people” - most likely, the baby will get up at 6-6.30 in the morning and go to sleep at night around 20 hours. In accordance with the individual biorhythms of the baby's wakefulness, walks, feeding, and games can shift in time in one direction or another.

Walks

The length of time spent outdoors depends on the time of year. In the summer, it is advisable to walk with your baby at least 2 times: 2-3 hours during the day and the same amount in the evening. In hot weather, it is better to move your daytime walk to the morning (before noon). In winter, instead of an evening walk, you can take a nap at home. Rain should not be a hindrance to being outside; you just need to put a protective film on the stroller and dress your baby properly. However, it is still not recommended to leave the house in strong winds.

Activities and educational games

It is recommended to conduct activities and educational games after each feeding, when the baby is full and in a good mood. The duration of classes for general development should not exceed 10-15 minutes. After eating and interesting play, the baby usually falls asleep well.

Gymnastics and massage

It is best to do gymnastics and general massage half an hour before feeding. In no case should classes be carried out immediately after eating, otherwise the baby will burp and feel discomfort in the stomach. Also, you should not give your baby a massage before bedtime, because this procedure has a stimulating effect. In the evening, it is better to do physical exercise before swimming.

Bathing

It is advisable that the baby is bathed at the same time every day. The duration of stay in water should not exceed 15-20 minutes. Before putting the baby in the baby bath, parents should immediately prepare clean clothes for him - if you look for them while the baby is undressed, the baby may become hypothermic. If the baby is a night owl, you can bathe him at 21:00-21:30. It is better to accustom the “lark” to take a bath no later than 20:00. This regimen for a 2-month-old baby will also be convenient for adults.

Features of the daily routine of a 2-month-old baby

Features of a child’s daily routine at 2 months are associated with the development of his life systems, especially digestion:

Photo 2

  • Saliva is produced more actively, making it more convenient for the baby to suck breast milk. Since the baby's mouth now fits more tightly to the mammary gland, he swallows less air, which reduces frequent regurgitation, bloating and colic in the tummy;
  • The digestive organs work more intensively: fermentation and the production of gastric juice are activated, and normal microflora is formed. This means that food is digested faster, and the breaks between feedings are reduced to 2 hours;
  • The baby’s sleep changes: there is a tendency to wake up early or late in the morning. This is how the child’s biorhythm is formed: he can become a “lark” or a “night owl.” Don't miss this important moment. The true chronotype will only appear by the age of 6-7 years. Parents should know the biological characteristics of the baby and not strive to transform an “owl” into a “lark”. This will upset the child’s psychological balance.

At night, 2-month-old babies can sleep for 10 hours with 1-2 breaks for food. During the day they will need 4 hours of rest: 2 times for 2 hours. Babies often confuse day and night and therefore spend more time resting during the day. In such situations, they should be woken up, gradually accustoming them to the correct schedule.

It is not difficult to instill in your child an optimal daily routine: any child will master this “science” in a week. The main thing for parents is to be consistent in their actions: sleeping and feeding, bathing and massaging the baby - strictly at the same time.

A clear daily routine is fixed in the baby as a conditioned reflex. Therefore, a child who is used to sleeping, eating and being awake at the same time feels more confident.

Breastfed

Mother's milk is the best diet for a 2-year-old baby. The baby needs to be fed on demand. Over time, newborns establish their own routine and feed at 3-hour intervals.

All children are different, so the schedule presented below should be considered as a recommendation, a temporary shift of 1-1.5 hours is possible:

  • 6 a.m . The baby woke up. The first procedure is washing. This should always be done, starting from the birth of the baby. We wipe our face with cotton wool soaked in water, and wipe our eyes with new clean pieces of cotton wool. It is important not to skip the procedure when teaching your child about hygiene. During this period, it’s time to cut the baby’s nails;
  • from 6-20 to 7-20 . Time of the 1st feeding. A baby needs 800-900 ml of milk per day. Single serving – 130-150 ml. This is difficult to track when breastfeeding. Focus on the duration of feeding - approximately 15-20 minutes. This time is enough for the child to eat;
  • from 7 to 9-30 am . Sleep (if possible in the fresh air). At this time, mom can eat and go about her business;
  • 9-30. The baby woke up. Second feeding;
  • from 9-30 to 11 am . The baby is awake. He is full and can go for a walk;
  • from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Daytime sleep;
  • from 13 to 14-30 . You have come from a walk. It's time for the 3rd feeding;
  • from 14-30 to 16-30 . The child is tired and wants to rest. Time to sleep;
  • 16-30 – 17-30. Awakening and wakefulness. Fourth feeding. Educational games;
  • 17-30 – 19-30. The baby is sleeping. Don't worry that if your baby falls asleep so late, he won't sleep at night. It will if you put him to bed after 9 yesterday;
  • 19-30 – 21-30. Fifth feeding. Stay awake until 22-00. Bathing the baby;
  • from 21-30 to 24-00 . Dream again. Then the sixth feeding. Once full, the baby will sleep until 6 am;
  • 24:00 – 6 am . Night sleep. If the baby wakes up at night and wants to eat, do not refuse him.

The famous pediatrician E. Komarovsky advises to adhere to this daily regimen. Try to comply with it. Over time, the schedule will adjust and become familiar.

It is important to understand that if your baby is sick, he will need more time to sleep. And if you are overtired, you can go to bed early. The main thing is to teach the baby to distinguish between day and night.

Artificially fed

Photo 3
The formula-fed newborn's regimen differs only in the feeding schedule, since industrially produced formulas take longer and are more difficult to digest than mother's milk.

The breaks between feedings increase to 4 hours or more: 7-00 and 11-00 in the morning, 15-00 in the afternoon, 19-00 and 23-00 in the evening and at 3 am.

Advice to parents: when choosing a formula, give preference to trusted baby food manufacturers. The best option is an adapted milk formula. Its composition is almost identical to breast milk, so it is absorbed faster. Once you have made your choice, consult your pediatrician.

Disturbances in the daily routine of a 2 month old baby

Children under three months of age often confuse day and night. It’s easy to fix a broken schedule: all you need to do is wake up a late-sleeping baby earlier than usual and slightly shift the time of daytime sleep.

Adults should do this gradually: every day, raise and put the baby down 3-5 minutes earlier than yesterday. To prevent the baby from falling out of routine, you should not turn on bright lights or talk loudly at night. After feeding your baby at night, you should immediately put him back in the crib without entertaining him in any way. These simple tips will help you easily adapt your baby's schedule to that of adults.

The importance of the regime in the life of an infant in the first months of life cannot be underestimated. Timely alternation of sleep and wakefulness, active and passive rest will help the baby grow healthy, strong and calm. Establishing the right schedule for a newborn infant is especially important if there are other children in the family who also require attention.

Shared or separate sleep: which is better?

One of the most effective ways to put your baby to sleep is co-sleeping. This method, at first glance, is ideal for the child and mother. The baby does not need to be weaned or shifted for fear of waking him up. The baby feels the warmth and smell of his mother, so he sleeps peacefully and soundly.

Parents do not worry about the child; they do not have to get up in the middle of the night to see how the baby is feeling. Also, the benefits of sleeping together include the unity of the biorhythms of mother and baby and the maintenance of lactation.

But sleeping a child in the same bed with parents has certain disadvantages:

  • there is a risk of harm to the baby due to careless movement;
  • Parents are under constant stress, so they do not sleep soundly. This negatively affects performance;
  • the appearance of difficulties when placing the baby in a cradle or crib during the day. The child gets used to having his mother next to him while he sleeps;
  • there is less space in the bed;
  • there is a risk of overfeeding the baby;
  • infringements in the intimate life of young spouses;
  • In the future, difficulties arise when accustoming the child to his own bed. In most cases, he categorically refuses to sleep alone, sometimes even for several years later;
  • the likelihood of infecting the baby with ARVI or influenza if one of the parents is sick. It should be borne in mind that signs of pathology do not appear immediately after infection. The incubation period can range from 2 to 5 days. At this time, a person is considered a carrier of the virus.

Photo 11
Many doctors do not recommend co-sleeping

Some psychiatrists claim that co-sleeping contributes to delayed mental development of the baby and infantility. Most pediatricians believe that it is necessary to teach the child to rest separately from the mother.

At first, in order for the baby to feel calm, it is necessary to place his bed next to the parents’ bed. Gradually the baby's sleeping place is moved away. This allows you to accustom him to separate rest without harm to the child.
