The introduction of complementary foods frees up parents' hands, expanding their culinary horizons. I immediately want to offer my baby all the most delicious and healthy things. Pediatricians recommend starting complementary feeding with vegetables, gradually moving on to fruits. When the mother has given the baby the opportunity to get acquainted with all the available fruits in raw form, the time comes for culinary delights. The first one is often a baked apple in the oven for a child.
Baked apple
How to bake an apple for a child?
For infants, it is better to use only apples and sugar, without fillers and spices (they can cause an allergic reaction).
- Preference is given to domestic green fruits (fewer products that are harmful to the baby’s digestion are used when processing them).
- It is better to cook seasonal fruits, but even in winter, an inconspicuous fruit, transformed in the oven, will become a storehouse of vitamins.
- The heat-treated version has much more pectin. It has an enveloping property, for which the intestines are “grateful”.
Iron also remains in the cooked apple. For the first complementary foods, you can safely bake the fruit and grind it in a blender. Older children will love apples with “surprises” filled with everything that mom’s imagination can handle.
Baked apples for a child: recipe
If adults have forgotten how to bake an apple for a child, simple tips will help you remember. To begin with, the fruit is thoroughly washed under running water, and when washing imported apples, even a sponge and boiling water are not left aside. Then cut the apple in half (or remove the “cap”) and peel out the core. If they are prepared for babies, the fruits are only sprinkled with sugar, and a little water is poured onto a baking sheet or rubbed with butter, or they can simply be covered with parchment (so that the dessert does not burn).
All! The last word is with the filling.
- The apple is stuffed with walnuts and honey, and cinnamon is added. If desired, place a tablespoon of cottage cheese with raisins inside. It's delicious, although pediatricians consider this combination not the best. Apples containing iron interfere with the absorption of calcium from cottage cheese. But if you don’t prioritize the benefits, but focus on the taste, then this combination is winning. If the previous recipes concerned children under one year old (provided that honey does not cause an allergic reaction), the following ingredients for fillings will delight older children and their parents, who often have to finish eating for their heirs.
- A couple of tablespoons of muesli (rice porridge, oatmeal), cherry or maple syrup, jam, cardamom are added to the filling. The dietary and unusual dish is ready.
- You can stuff the raw fruit with a banana, and put the egg whites and sugar whipped into a thick foam on top.

The benefits of heat-treated apples
- The acidity of the fruit decreases, which resists the fermentation process in the intestines and excess gas formation.
- This product is absorbed by the body much faster.
- When baked, the apple does not lose its fiber percentage, but the level of pectin increases. This promotes the rapid removal of harmful substances and toxins from the child’s body.
- Baked apples affect the body as immunostimulants.
Adviсe
- It is not recommended to peel the apple. The peel gives it shape and prevents it from settling.
- If you are using a purchased product, in particular one purchased in a store, then you need to wash it thoroughly, preferably using a soap solution.
- Fruits can be prepared by cutting into slices or cutting out the core.
- When using hard winter varieties, you should allow about seven minutes for preparation. If the fruits are sweet and soft, then three is enough.
- Baking apples with sauce is much faster than with filling.
- If you microwave, take care to pierce the peel in several areas. This is necessary so that it does not crack.
- You can add berries to sweet varieties, such as currants or cranberries.

Baked apples are a delicious dish that can be a great breakfast, dessert or snack. Children love different tasty things. And today I will tell you how to prepare baked apples for children, which, nevertheless, will appeal to many.
There is nothing complicated in preparing this dish. The main thing is to choose the right varieties of apples. They should be firm, preferably with a slight sourness. To make the apples more flavorful, I added cinnamon and honey to them. When using honey in dishes for children, be careful, because it is an allergenic product. If for some reason honey is contraindicated for your child, replace it with sugar.
To prepare baked apples for children, prepare the necessary set of ingredients according to the list. You will need firm apples with a slight sourness.
Wash the apples well under running water, dry and cut out the core, not reaching 1-1.5 cm from the end. It’s convenient to do this with a special device, but if you don’t have one, an ordinary kitchen knife will do.
Place the apples in a baking dish suitable for baking. Place honey and a pinch of cinnamon into the holes.
Place the form with apples in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes. The baking time will depend on the variety of apples and the features of your oven. The finished apples should become soft, but still retain their shape.
